Make a Difference Day was held at Memorial Healthcare on Saturday, October 25, 2003 as a part of the national day of volunteerism. The Hospital and the Shiawassee United Way hosted the American Red Cross' Mobile Food Pantry at the hospital. Also given away were hats, mittens and warm winter accessories that had been collected by Memorial employees and Halloween costumes which had been collected by Owosso Middle School students.
Also, that day included cider, donuts and coffee provided by the Fair Winds Girl Scout Council and the Baker Pathways students, information and brochure giveaways by MSU Extension and Catholic Charities.
The YAC (Youth Advisory Council of the Shiawassee Community Foundation) students acted as runners to carry food to the cars.
The morning started at 8:00 am. with a proclamation by Owosso Mayor Jack Davis and remarks by Corunna Mayor Steve Corey, Senator Valde Garcia, Caledonia township trustee Joe DeCaire, Sue Osika, American Red Cross and Cathy Stevenson, Memorial Healthcare.
