The vendors of the Owosso Farmers’ Market invite everyone to the opening day of the 2008 Owosso Farmers’ Market.
This season’s events begin 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. May 3. The Market is located on North Water Street, Owosso in the parking lot between the Owosso Armory and the Matthews Building.
Opening Day will feature a giveaway of a hanging basket to one lucky visitor.
Available from vendors will be nursery stock, hanging baskets, flats of annuals and perennials and other early seasonal items.
Depending on the weather there may also be rhubarb and asparagus.
Some arts and crafts, garden art and woodcrafts will be available.
Back again this year is structural artist blacksmith Nathan Cox of Owosso with his hand-forged garden and other items.
You’ll find some produce this early in the season and there will be baked goods such as cinnamon rolls and pies and Czech pastries and other items.
And, new this year are eggs from free-range chickens.
Expect to see many of the regular vendors and some new faces as well.
The Owosso Farmers’ Market has become a special place to be every Saturday morning, May through October. It’s not unusual to see groups of two to 10 people or more gather together or to see them greeting one another while they walk through the market.
The Owosso Farmers’ Market vendors have formed special friendships with the market customers over the years. It is a joy to see familiar faces each May.
