Gifts That Keep On Giving Shiawassee County is on the move! The Chamber Foundation, a 501 (C)(3) charitable foundation, is building a regional fund that will enrich the quality of life in Shiawassee County. Gifts entrusted to the Chamber Foundation will be used to encourage economic, educational, technological, youth and other charitable causes throughout our county, and over time will have a broad impact. What is the Chamber Foundation Regional Fund? It is an opportunity for Chamber members and citizens to contribute to the charitable purposes and programs originating through the Chamber and its many partners. All gifts to the Chamber Foundation are made available as grants to Chamber charitable programs that benefit Shiawassee County. What Are The Advantages of The Chamber Foundation:
• It
promotes a sense of “community involvement” in the interests and objectives of
meaningful programs. Who decides what grants are given? The Chamber Foundation Board is a group of countywide volunteers who carefully review the needs of Shiawassee County, and make their best recommendations, keeping in mind that they have the honored responsibility of stewardship - making sure your charitable dollars are used to produce the best possible outcome for Shiawassee County. The Chamber Foundation

How can I Give to The Chamber Foundation? Cash Cash gifts are the most common form of giving for many people. In addition to the immediate satisfaction that comes from making a cash gift, these gifts may also bring with them attractive charitable tax deductions for you and your business. Real Estate and Appreciated Assets Gifts of appreciated securities, real estate and other assets can be a very attractive way for individuals and businesses to give to the Chamber Foundation. With gifts of this type, you are able to make a significantly larger contribution than the actual or initial cost of the asset, so both you and the community benefit. Retirement Plans Did you know that up to 80% of the money you’ve saved through your retirement plan can be lost through estate and income taxes upon your death? When you make the Chamber Foundation a beneficiary of your IRA, pension, 401(k) or other retirement plan, you can make arrangements for a lifetime income to be paid to your heirs from your retirement fund. Life Insurance A gift of life insurance is an inexpensive way to make a substantial contribution. As retirement approaches, your need for life insurance may be decreasing as your children have grown and become financially secure in their own right. You can name the Chamber Foundation as your beneficiary and transfer ownership of the policy to the Foundation. This entitles you to an income tax deduction at the time of the transfer. Your future premium payments will be tax deductible as well. Other Options These are only some of the options available to you in making a gift. The benefits and tax deductions mentioned above depend on the size of your gift, your tax bracket, net worth, IRS regulations and other factors. All gifts to The Chamber Foundation are committed to the following mission:
