Quick tips for shooting mobile video and audio
- Hold camera horizontally (Widescreen)
- Hold each shot for at least 5 seconds. Then move to the next shot. Do not use any zoom functionality. Tripods are key if you have one.
- Get closeups if you can. Hold the device with both hands.
- If you are talking into the camera, headphones or earbuds are best to create clean audio if you do not have an external microphone source. (This also applies to Laptops/PCs)
- Make sure you are in a well lit space that isn’t echoey or too busy background-wise, and you are not standing with your back to a window. (This also applies to Laptops/PCs)
- In fact, use the window as a light source indoors, especially with interviews, and make sure you get as close to the subject as you can.
- When outside, do not shoot underneath trees or overpasses. The lighting will be mixed and could create harsh shadows.
